Guidelines for The Scripture Forum
1.0 Description of the Scripture Forum
1.1 The Scripture Forum is established to facilitate the discussion of Scripture and is composed of a two-tier system to allow members to correspond by either a web-based forum or email list. The SF employs this two-tiered approach to best meet the needs of its membership.
1.2 The Scripture Forum will provide an online resource for assembly believers where questions relating to Biblical issues may be dealt with in a sensitive, informative and interesting manner.
1.3 Each potential and current member is asked to read these Revised Guidelines carefully, registration on the forum indicates your acceptance of the guidelines.
1.4 Terms used: the web-based forum is hereafter referred to only as "the forum" and is considered a subset of the Scripture Forum (called "SF") that also includes the mailing list (called "the list"). The discussion on the SF is moderated by a Moderating Committee (called "the MC").
1.5 Registration to Scripture Forum is by use of your personal name accompanied by a username that is identifiable with you and relates to your personal name. Assumed names, pseudonyms etc. are not permitted.
2.0 Membership on the Scripture Forum
2.1.0 Apply for membership in SF by going to http://www.thescriptureforum.com, clicking on the "Register" link and filling out the Registration Form.
2.1.1 Each member is asked to read these Revised Guidelines carefully, registration on the forum indicates your acceptance of the guidelines.
2.2.0 The primary aim of SF is to provide an infrastructure for the discussion of scripture, ONLY by believers who are in the fellowship of an assembly of Christians that is meeting in accordance with the Word of God. The fellowship described is one where reception is to the assembly and NOT simply to the Lord's Supper or on the ground of the "one body" doctrine.
2.2.1 This expression is used simply to distinguish from other groups, the type of fellowship referred to, such as: "Exclusive brethren," or "Chapels," including any group that practices what is often referred to as "open reception" or "open table," or that receives denominational believers.
2.2.2 These other believers may choose to accept the availability of Restricted Forum membership which will enable them to read the various discussions. Posting priviliges are not available to Restricted Forum members.
2.2.3 It is also noted that SF is NOT a fellowship, but an area of conversation - we want it to be profitable for all.
2.2.4 Believers applying for membership will be added to the appropriate membership group by the MC upon activation.
2.2.5 Believers who hold the doctrine of Limited Atonement will be granted membership of the Restricted Forum only.
2.2.6 Any individual under discipline in an assembly, that the MC becomes aware of, will be moved to Restricted Forum until they are restored.
3.0 Discussion on the Scripture Forum
3.1 Without prejudice to 2.2.0 - 2.2.4, generally speaking and with qualification, all Full Forum Membership subscribers will be expected to contribute in good faith for the benefit of all.
3.2 Under no circumstances will we tolerate anything of a derogatory nature relating to the Scriptures of Truth - the Holy Bible, the Three Persons of the Godhead or fellow believers.
3.3 Principles of Christian courtesy and kindness must be practised.
3.4 The authority of Scripture is the only and final arbitrator in all matters raised in discussion.
3.5.0 New subjects can be introduced in the normal manner by any member, however, subjects considered by the MC to be unedifying will be closed down by a public note to SF.
3.5.1 The MC retains the right to move threads to a more appropriate subject or category on the forum. We would request that a response that is distinctly branching onto a different (albeit related) topic be submitted as a new thread.
3.5.2 The MC retains the right to lock threads to prevent further discussion, request that the membership move on to another subject, or ultimately delete inappropriate or duplicate posts from the forum.
4.0 Moderating Committee of the Scripture Forum
4.1 A Moderating Committee (MC) is responsible to maintain a good quality of discussion for the good of the forum and will arbitrate where necessary and deal with breaches of Forum etiquette.
4.2 The MC comprises 6 respected brethren who share the responsibility of arbitrating SF matters. When infringement of the above guidelines occurs, the MC will follow the procedure detailed in section 4.3 unless the nature of the difficulty warrants more immediate action.
4.3 Procedure to deal with infringement of Guidelines:
1st Infringement - the contributor will be e-mailed privately, unless the serious nature of the infringement requires immediate public notice or termination of membership.
2nd infringement - public note to SF.
3rd infringement - member limited to Restricted Forum, or member account will be deactivated.
4.4 Members of the Moderating Committee

- Redmond Blair - Fairview Assembly, Vancouver BC, Canada
- Walter Boyd - Ebenezer Assembly, Bangor, N.I.
